Bag Update: Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM Neo Mimosa – How Long Do Replica Bags Last?

Dear blog readers,

One concern that most shoppers are concerned with when it comes to replica bags is how long will they last? Due to the lower price people believe that qualitatively the bags suffer, and time-wise do not last as long. Now knockoff bags are a broad category, and this assumption does hold true for many lower end replicas, however if you can snag yourself a counter quality replica (as I have extensively described throughout my reviews of various bags), then you should expect your bag to last as long as it’s authentic designer counterpart.

Case in point, we can refer to a previous review I did of a Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM Mimosa replica bag about two and a half years ago! You can click here to read the original review of the bag I did. Now I’ve used this bag many times over this time period, and I’d like to share with you all how the bag has maintained itself. These are some key changes I have noticed with the bag:

IT IS DEVELOPING A PATINA (SLOWLY BUT SURELY)!

The bag’s cowhide trimmings (a.k.a the handles, and the rim around the top of the bag) are beginning to slowly develop a tan. I haven’t exposed the bag to too much sun, so the patina is not very dark so it could be much darker if I had chosen to oxidize it more!

THE RED GLAZE IS TURNING DARKER!

When I first purchased the bag it had a bright red glaze painted onto the edges of the handles. The bright red color is slowly but surely morphing into a darker red that almost looks brown-ish in person. A lot of people who shop for Louis Vuitton often ask if the replica looks fake because of the bright red paint, since many other pieces on second hand markets have a darker hue, however this question is flawed because even on the authentic bags the trim is a brighter red at first and the color eventually darkens with time.

THE BAG HAS SOME WHITE SCUFFS HERE AND THERE!

Just like its authentic counterpart, good replica Louis Vuitton bags can have their canvas scuffed (usually a white color). In order to take care of these scuffs many ladies on the Purse Forum have suggested using a magic white eraser. Usually these scuffs are the product of the bag rubbing up against things like a wall that can transfer their color to the canvas. Now if your bag is scuffed all over the place that is a warning trigger as that is highly unusual, but as pictured below a few scuffs here and there are no major biggie!

LIKE AN AUTHENTIC BAG, YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR REPLICA!

Many people who snark at replicas often do so because of the horrid images of fakes they have seen which are a true embarrassment to the brand and the bag’s wearer. However  many people purchase a copy of an authentic bag they already own that they don’t want to wear out all the time so it doesn’t get ruined, and lose its value. Others simply purchase fakes to save money.

Regardless of your reason for buying a replica bag you need to keep in mind that like an authentic bag, it requires care and you must put in the work to make sure the bag does not deteriorate quickly! My Neverfull has clearly stood the test of time in terms of relaying its quality in terms of construction, and overall I am just as happy with the bag now as I was when I first purchased it!
